Recently, I’ve created a habit of proclaiming things that I’ve read, watched, or listened to as ‘special’. I’m not entirely certain if that has become a bad habit or not. Maybe I often have been subjecting myself to special works. Well, today I will succumb to this habit once again. At least for this post.
Your Name is a special movie. I won’t get too much into the details of the plot because it can easily be spoiled. Plainly, it is the story of two high school students finding their way to each other. That is as simple as I can make it.
This movie is gut-wrenching. You will find yourself struggling not to cry, especially toward the climax. The musical score is divine. Sound effects coupled with the tone and timing of the music were extremely inviting. This film transports the audience to a timeless world filled with love. A romance between Taki-kun and Misuhua is the cherry on top. Their love for each other transcends life and death. The struggles faced by both protagonists only solidifies their unprecedented eagerness to be united.
Your Name is a beautiful work of art. Please watch it if you can.
