Two reasons:
- Discipline
- Length of time.
A good habit can take between 50–70 days to form.
That’s a big commitment to make.
Two months just to form a habit can be very discouraging and lead to poor discipline and willpower.
Not to mention, most of the time they don’t feel great at the beginning.
It’s only after the formation of the habit does it start to feel rewarding.
The reason is that by creating new habits we are forming new neural pathways in our brain.
That’s why it’s so discouraging at the beginning and takes so long to make you feel happy.
Your brain isn’t used to it and is continuing to form this new neural pathway with each consecutive day that you practice this habit.
Even though it is a long and difficult process, forming a good habit is worth doing.
