TURNOVERS.
The Golden State Warriors are averaging 14.8 turnovers per game in the postseason. In game six they had a whopping 18 turnovers in total. That’s a potential 54-point swing the Kings could’ve capitalized on.
Limiting turnovers wins games.
Turnovers generally stem from a lack of focus when handling the ball along with lackadaisical decision-making. It was clear in game 6 that the Warriors were headed for a big turnover night. On numerous occasions, the primary ball handler made an errant pass which led to an easy transition layup for the Kings.
The question for game 7 is how will the Warriors respond to a lack of focus and energy shown in game 6.
That’s a hard answer to predict. The Warriors have been so poor on the road this season. How can they expect to turn it around in game 7 on the road after such a poor performance?
They can’t.
Game 6 was a huge opportunity missed for Golden State. They can’t expect better results with that same lack of focus especially knowing their previous struggles on the road. However, if they can somehow regain focus and a willingness to take care of the ball then game 7 will be theirs to lose.
If Golden State is able to protect the ball in game 7 then they will win this series.
