I wake up in the blistering heat of my dorm room.
Out of the window Earth is still covered in powdery white. My phone displays a message from last night. “I love you, goodnight.’ She wrote. My body fills with that familiar warmth, and I smile.
Most of the day is spent studying.
If I’m being honest it’s just a waiting game. Waiting until she is done with all of her classes. Once she’s done sitting through boring lectures we can study together.
I feel much more inclined to study when she’s there, sitting next to me.
It’s hard to explain but it feels as if a hidden force is pushing me to work, improve, and stay motivated in my studies. That feeling disappears when I’m alone. I’ve come to love that sense of drive.
It’s become a welcome presence in the back of my mind.
After we both finish days worth of work food is at the forefront of our minds. We race to the food hall and devour as much as we can before it closes. Once we’re done eating we walk back to her dorm room. We climb into bed, snuggle up, and watch a movie.
She falls asleep fast.
I close her laptop, tuck her in, and kiss her on the forehead.
As I walk back to my dorm I can’t help but smile.
