Don’t participate in things that you don’t care about or don’t hold value to you.
On a lot of occasions in the past, I found myself participating in activities that I didn’t care about. Due to my lack of courage (and a general understanding of emotions and feelings), I continued with these activities until I reached my breaking point. If you do something for long enough that is meaningless to you eventually everything associated with it feels like suffering.
It wasn’t until after I got through the situation that I realized how much I was suffering and how easily it could have been avoided.
Suffering from something that is avoidable can ruin your mental and emotional well-being.
Don’t let it get to a breaking point or rock bottom.
Take the time (daily) to analyze the state of your current emotions.
Ask yourself (if something is bothering you or if an area in your life can be improved):
Why do I feel this way?
What can I do to improve my well-being?
A lot of the time it comes down to freeing yourself from tasks or obligations that don’t align with your passions or values.
If you can, try and rid your life of invaluable obligations that drain you.
That is one way that you can be true to yourself.
